Private Residence
New London, New Hampshire

g2+1 was invited to assist Banwell Architects of Lebanon, NH with the renovation of a classic lakeside residence along Lake Sunapee. Initial services included examining options to solve an existing storm drainage problem identified at the front entry, to renovate the look and feel of this entry space so it would be more inviting and to assess the property's overall landscape for phased improvement, enhancement and with practical maintenance considered.

After some conceptual designs were completed our services were continued directly with the owner. Our design efforts continued with final design of a front entry patio including stone walls, bluestone paving and layered plantings. How to handle roof drainage was a key consideration in the final design. Other areas of focus  included an outdoor hot tub area nestled into the edge of exposed ledge rock, an outdoor shower pad, connecting walks and ground cover plantings. Along the lakeside side of the house we fully reconstructed an existing multicolored slate patio in poor/failed condition.  A new bluestone patio was constructed in conjunction with replacement of  inappropriately scaled porch post footings of brick to granite blocks in scale with the house and setting.
