Moultonborough Playground Expansion & Renovation Master Plan
Moultonborough, New Hampshire

g2+1 was retained by the Town of Moultonborough Recreation Department to explore concepts regarding how an existing park area could be renovated and expanded to provide a wider array of facilities and features for resident benefit and comfort. A primary goal in the design was to modify a paved access that ran through the park site in a straight line. Although used for emergency access as an interconnection across town, we proposed this pavement be cut, and in other places, be paved to achieve a serpentine alignment to suggest a more park like pathway. This feature would also be planted with an arbor of shade trees along its entire length to further create a park like streetscape.

Other improvements included creating a secure but inviting gateway into the park, reconstruction of an existing gravel parking area with pavement and islands for efficient traffic management and a comfort station.  Also considered was a new sloped seating area on an embankment along an existing ball field that, with an added stage, could be used as an amphitheater. In 2012, work commenced on a Phase I project to upgrade an existing soccer field known to have drainage problems limiting its use and complicating on-going maintenance.
