Hidden Valley Scout Camp Amphitheater Plan

g2+1 was invited to explore conceptual site designs for an amphitheater to seat 650 to 700 boy scouts. Scout camp representatives had already identified a location based on conservation easement constraints applied to the property and a desire to orient the long axis of the structure for views over an adjoining pond. After a careful site evaluation, a precise location was defined where existing sloped grades would minimize site grading, where trail access from the surrounding camp facilities were best located and where we could avoid a small adjoining wetland.

 

Conceptual design further examined seating options with regard to material selection, cost, fabrication and installation by camp staff. Illustrative drawings were prepared for presentation to stakeholders and administrators for comment and to assess fundraising opportunities to make the project a reality.  Construction to commence in fall 2014.
